Erik,

The question should be: Where can it be installed to be hidden but
still accessible for adjusting the drip rate? I found that after
installation it needs to be regularly adjusted to get just the right
amount of oil on the chain to keep it slightly wet without getting slop
all over the swingarm, rear wheel and bodywork. The viscosity of the
oil and hence the drip rate, will vary quite a bit with ambient
temperature. For instance, if I have it adjusted for the 60 degF when
I leave my house early tomorrow morning, four hours later when the
temps are in 80-90 degF range the drip rate will be way to high and
oil getting flung off the chain everywhere. And then later, by the
time I get to the White Mountains at about 8-9000 feet elevation and
back to 60-70 temp range, it will have changed again.

When I installed mine I spent about a half day trying to find a good
location. I tried leaving it exposed and mounting it near the left
passenger footrest but could not get used to the sight of it. In the
end I compromised and mounted it under the right rear body panel on
the metal subframe. It is completely hidden but the seat must be
removed to get to the adjuster. If you have the optional panniers
you know what a PITA it is to get the seat off unless you remove
the left bag or have a very small hand or have relocated the seat
latch. After a few months I more or less learned to live with it.
I can take and send jpgs if you don't get clues on a better location.
