TT600 racing

Oulton Park, Sunday May 21st.

I must be getting old but I could not remember if I'd ever been to Oulton
Park before, strange! Well I set off after work saturday about 7.30pm and
thought a nice easy drive and bound to find a Hotel or travelodge. Wrong
again, it rained all the way and the Hotels were full, just as I thought
I'd be sleeping in the van I struck gold well 50.00uk per night gold. Still
it was a bed. Anyway enough of that.

Turned up at the circuit to discover that since it is Church land there was
no morning warm up, nothing until noon and that was for the British
Superbike class only. The qualifying for Andi's race was on Saturday, two
sessions the first was dry and he qualified 25th, the second was wet and
he was 15th. So no guessing who was doing a rain dance, but no matter what
Clive did the sun kept shining.

Watching our race from Lodge corner seemed to be a good spot and on the first
lap Andi was in with a group of half a dozen have a tussle for 17th - 22nd
place. It was good to see how well the bike steered and the brakes are
awesome.
Andi was able to slide up the inside several times of those infront of him,
only to loose out on sheer power down the straights. On one lap he managed to
dive between two and come out infront, which had everyone there gasping for
breath, super stuff! As seems to be the case in 600 races the rate of
attrition took its toll and the race was stopped after an accident on around
lap 12, which meant counting back a lap to sort the places, which was a shame
since he had just taken 17th, so counting back meant a 19th place. An
improvement over Thruxton's 21st, so slow progress all we need is another
15bhp, which will be gratefully received.

Clive and company are off to the Isle of Man next for the 600TT on the
7th June. Jim Hodson is riding again for us this year, so we hope that
he will be able to put on a good show. I'll try and update as we go.

Thanks for your interest and support.

Steve.
