Re: Racetech feedback

The settings for my 200lbs currently are:
.95 springs
Emulators at 2 turns
Preload adjusters at 7mm out
Oil is a 50/50 mix of 15wt and 10wt Silkolene synthetic

I still am getting a bit more hardness from the front than I'd like.
The rebound seems good but I'd like the front to kick back a bit less
from sharp/ square edge bumps. This is what as known as high speed
compression damping. Low speed compression damping seems good. My
thinking is to maybe go to 15wt and reduce the turns to either 1.5
turns or 1.75 . Any one have any thoughts? Has anyone reduced the #
of emulator turns to less than 2??

I havent modified the forks on my Sprint yet, but have used RaceTech
Emulators on my previous bike (1984 K100RS).
Oil weight is used to control the rebound damping. If you are happy with
it, stick to the 12.5w. If you go thicker it will also give more
compression damping & therefore more harshness.
It's not easy to adjust the emulator preload, so I would go to 1.5 turns.
You should notice the difference.
Do not be afraid to try less than or other than the recommended settings if
you feel they are wrong. On my BMW I ended up with 0 or 0.5 turns. With the
recommended amount the bike had far too much compression damping & was
harsh & unstable. Apparently many ZZR1100 riders also end up with 0 turns
as well.
