Clutch cable and GenMar risers

I just purchased a pair of GenMar risers and have been trying to complete
the install. I did look at all of the material on the site regarding
re-routing the clutch cable, however it still seems to lack about 1" of
slack? My ST is a very early 99 (produced 12/98)--does anyone know if the
current model clutch cable is any longer then the original spec units?
