i may seem childish, but adjusting your shift pedal up or down makes a real
difference, especially in 1-2 gear. you just have to adjust and try, because
if its too high youll have trouble with 5-6. in your case the pedal should
be adjusted downwards.

worked fine for me on the ST.  8^)
