John,
I have a Passport Solo. I like it, but the earpiece, which is available
only from Radio Shack, not Escort, sucks. I am looking into helmet
speaker(s) The windshield mount is also a pain for the bike and I have the
tall Triumph windshield. I will devise an alternate rigid mount during the
off season here in Minnesota. Frankly, when I am on long trips, I seldom run
into radar. The unit usually goes off just before it powers down (powersave)
after 45 minutes. There are also areas in town where I run into false
triggering every time I pass by (I never switch to "city mode"). It is
supposed to detect all radar types and lasers. The "optional" jack on the
unit is about $25-35. It was about $225 direct from Escort with the earphone
jack. I had to send the 1st unit back when the jack failed. Escort
cheerfully replaced the unit. I also got the optional power cord ($25, I
think) for the car. I am still running the original batteries from last
Spring. Here is the website : http://www.escortstore.com/ . Also, I took a
trip through Canada last summer. Ontario and Quebec outlaw radar detectors.
Bummer.
Ciao,
Bob
