6000 mile service - Good News

Hi, on the occasion of my ST's 6000 mile service and Fuel sender recall
fitting, if you don't mind, I'd just like to make a little report.
Black '00 ST purchased April '00 from Carl Rosner, Croydon, Surrey, UK
(Triumph service dealer of the year 1998 and 1999), with Scottoiler, veto
alarm, heated grips and soft luggage.

Firstly, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the people who run this
list (thanks, Eric for your willingness to share your time, knowledge and
contacts) and all the contributors. This list was instrumental in my
decision to buy the bike and sometimes even enthused me to go for a ride
when I hadn't planned to.

Since, understandably, problems become highlighted on list such as this, I
think sometimes the quiet majority who have no problems need to be heard.

Times not started: 0
Fuel Leaked: 0
Belly pan melted: No
battery lost charge: No
Ever run "rough": No
Engine rattles: None
Av. mpg: 47
Cost of 6000 service: 92 GBP

Triumph Soft Luggage: Hardwearing, carries plenty, totally waterproof, no
ugly frame needed.

I can't speak highly enough of this bikes usability. 30 mile each way
commute 4 days a week through town then on motorway (120mph daily, unless
unsafe to do so), all weathers, no problem, great fun. 500 mile days, fully
laden using soft luggage, eminently practical, supremely comfortable.
7-8000rpm through exciting twisties, handles beautifully. Cruising slowly
through London on a summer evening with girlfriend on back... feel on top of
the world.

No other bike in my experience, or my dreams, can come close for reliability
or variety of use. If I could afford to have a Ducati 996/MZ
Augusta(Twisties) and Harley Electra Glide Classic (Long distance cruising)
and Ducati Monster (city cruising) and Hayabusa/Blackbird (city to city fast
motorway) I would have them all, specialist bikes for specialist riding, but
I can't, so I have the bike that does it all.

Next spring: upgrade suspension/polish wheels/underseat exhaust?/new paint
job?

I'm not a "real motorcyclist", I don't like getting my hands dirty, so I
can't say what it's like to work on, but so far neither me nor anybody else
has needed to.

The worst thing I can say about it is, it could be hard to find neutral, but
even that has been cured by the 6000 service.

Well done Triumph, you are coming of age.

Happy riding,
Robert Wilson
