The service manual states that the hot viscosity should be no greater
than 50 or less than 40, the cold viscosity should be no less than 10,
and the range between hot and cold should be no more than 35. That
means that 20W-50, 10W40, 20W-50 and 15W-50 would all be OK. 10W-50 is
a no-no, as is 5W-40, 0W-30, or any straight weight oil.

Personally, I used Motul 5100 10W-40 for my last oil change, but will
likely switch to 'plain' automotive 15W-50 Mobil 1 for my next change.
The bike has started using a bit of oil, and quarts of Motul 5100 oil
are somewhat hard to find at roadside or at truck stops. Most Mobil
stations carry the 15W-50 Mobil 1, though. It's a high-quality oil
that is at least as good as Motul 5100, and it costs a bunch less if
you buy it at auto parts stores.
