 Since most of the Americans on this list are Cycle News subscribers,
this is directed mainly at the 'furriners' among us.

 The weekly newspaper Cycle News, arguably the U.S. most highly
regarded motorcycle publication (with apologies to Mark Cook)
featured a shoot-out between the BMW R1100R, the Buell Lightning X-1,
the Ducati 900 Monster, the Suzuki 1200S Bandit and the Triumph Speed
Triple. 

 A quote from the Conclusion:

 "The one bike that everyone on the staff agreed they would love to
own is the Triumph Speed Triple.  It wins by a unanimous decision.
Handling, power and character, all rolled into a unique package.  The
Triumph's hard to beat, regardless of what you put it up against.
