Faulty fuel sender question

Mine has definitely gone bad.  Dumped half a tank of gas (all there was!)
since I took it out riding last weekend.  Since it's leaking at such a high
rate, is it safe to ride?  The dealer gets the part on Friday, so I'm
thinking about just putting in some gas right before I take it over and not
pressing my luck.
