what's the big connector under the seat,

	That connector does indeed have a shorting plug. If it's unplugged the
bike will not run. The Triumph Data Tool alarm plugs into the socket.
Keep the shorting plug in your jacket or somewhere safe in case the
alarm ever malfunctions. You can unplug it and plug in the shorting
plug.
