Re: Sigma 800 sporadic operation....



For esthetic reasons I used a button magnet that is much smaller than
depicted on the ST website.  For that reason the exact placement on the
rotor for optimum signal was quite critical.  I also found that that due to
it's thinness, that the gap between the magnet and the pickup was too large.
Rather than get a bigger magnet I epoxied a second magnet directly on top of
the first one and it worked fine.  It's been installed for over a month now
and so far it has worked flawlessly.  BTW, I also zap-strapped the pickup to
the bottom of the disk caliper exactly as shown.  The only problem is that
you'll have to remember to disconnect the pickup before working on the front
brakes.  I've heard that others have mounted the pickup to the fork tube,
but I don't think that would work (or look) too good.
