Hmm, that's strange.  I didn't have that problem.  The dealer had
their nifty little license plate holder that fit on the bike and
when my plates came, it fit in there quite normally.

Is that the same one that Motorcycle Consumer News had a blurb on?
They liked it but they said they had to do some extra stuff to make
the license plate holder (and therefore the helmet lock) more
impervious to someone getting it off your bike.

But if you do it, I'd like to know how well it works because I'd
love to have a place to put my helmet without having to use combo lock
or something similar.
