I had one dealer tell me that they are shipped from the factory with
break-in oil already installed. Break-in oil is not synthetic (or even
semi-synthetic). It allows the rings to seat in properly and relatively
quickly. It would take a lot longer (maybe never) to do this with synthetic
oil. The break-in oil is replaced with synthetic oil at first service (500
miles).
Can't help you with the other question though.
