that's amusing.

but it's not why they don't wave.  if they don't wave (and, of course,
many _do_), it's because they don't perceive themselves as being
engaged in the same thing that you're doing.  and given the
accessories and attitude and manner in which sport/sport-touring
riders ride vs. the way most harley riders ride, they have a point. 
it really is a somewhat different activity.

i also find that the fewer bikes there are around, whether it's
because we're in the middle of nowhere, or in the middle of a
torrential rain, or in the middle of winter :-), the more likely we
all are to wave at one another -- it tends to accentuate the
similarity of our pastimes, overwhelming the differences.

(i myself tend to wave to everyone.  well, actually, i often don't
wave at teva-wearing muscle-shirted squids.  i wouldn't want to
encourage them.  :-)
