Re: service costs.. WHAT !!!!!

$800.00 for a service!!!!! holy s__t what did they do, gold plate
the bike????? Please let us know what they could have done to
possibly justify that kind of money, hell even the 12K service on my
BMW K1200RS ( Break My Wallet) wasn't that bad.. and $200.00 for 6k
services?? I spent $40.00 for the 6k service.. oil filter $8.00 ,
$21.00 4liter jug of Motul 5100.. I adjusted the chain (didn't need
much) lubed the stands, lubed the cables, checked all the fasteners,
pulled the calipers cleaned the pistons and pads and checked their
wear ( 75% on the fronts 65% on the rears) checked the torque of the
wheels and various other bits, checked the battery for charging,
checked coolant, and asked the dealer to read out any faults in the
computer ( none).. he charged me $10.00 and I bought the tech a cup
of coffee.. Now in all fairness I will need brake pads soon ( 2-3 K
miles) so that's about $125.00 I did just replace the rear tire at
about 9200 miles $122.00 plus $28.00 mount and balance. I'll prolly
bleed/flush the brakes soon $20.00 for the good Motul Dot-4, chain/
sprockets are still fine.. I'll let the dealer do the fuel filter, air
filter, spark plugs and a valve adjustment at 12k but I can't imagine
paying much more than $200.00 labor and maybe $75.00, for parts.
$800.00 ??????

Erik

PS: If anyone thinks I skimp on service (or anything related to my
scoot) BELIEVE me I don't :-)
