Firstly a word of caution: I wouldn't do this unless you actually have a
leak. If it ain't broke - don't fix it!.

A cheaper and just as effective method to prevent your gear from getting wet
if/when the luggage leaks is to wrap all your gear in plastic bags before
placing it in your luggage.

Works a treat for me.
