Friday:
Bike the booked into the dealers to look at the Veto alarm as the movement
sensor isn't sensing. Arrive on time expecting a quick fix, no such luck.
The service guy after a while comes out and explains the circuit board in
dead and costs over £100. I said it's only just over twelve months old and
should be on warranty but he doesn't look too convinced. At this point I
expect the usual I'm right your wrong approach but the owner join's in the
conversation with "stop scaring the customers, just get a board out of one
on the shelf fix his alarm and then get a return number from Datatool, end
of story". From a thought of a £100 bill to satisfaction in a second or two.
Leave the dealers and ride home. Cleaning the bike ready for an early start
in the morning for a day of training I hear the sound of air escaping from
the rear tyre. Shit, a puncture. It's three in the afternoon and the hunt
starts for a tyre. Dealer one, yes we've got one but can't fit you in
today. Dealer two, yup get it here but 5:45 and we'll do it. Now I just
have to remove the rear wheel only I don't have a ratchet long enough to
get enough pressure to crack 146Nm. Phone a friend and wait for his arrival
as the clock ticks away. Wheel off and new tyre installed the tyre fitter
says do you want the punctured tyre sent off to be repaired. I thought it
was law that these tyres can't be repaired. He said the garages can't do it
but they can be sent off to be done properly at a cost of £15. It will be
interesting to see what the repair looks like and I now have a spare tyre.
Saturday:
Training went okay. Bad point of the day was the rain in the afternoon.
Sunday:
I'll do the pump the pistons on the brake thing to restore the initial
bite. All going well until I come to remount the last bolt and isn't it
always the last one. Torque to 40Nm but no such luck. As I tighten it the
feeling of something has just given springs to mind. I undo the bolt
expecting to see no thread but it's still there. Removing the caliper to
find in fact that the thread on the caliper has just said farewell. Shit
it's just not my weekend. The bolt is currently holding but not to 40Nm.
I'll phone around today to see what can be done.
Three days of highs and lows. Thank god it's Monday and I'm back in work. I
hope you all better weekends than me.
