Yeah, thanks for the concern.  Luckily I was wearing all the right gear (now 
ruined - but it worked!).  Surprisingly, the thing that really saved my foot 
from being crushed was the "Jonny Reb" boots I was wearing, the heavy stiff 
sole and heel on the boot insulated my foot from the full impact of the 
cage's bumper.  Needless to say I'll be buying another pair !
