Indeed, have noticed that as well.  Wonder if going in and cutting it out
would be deterimental or not...

No problem with regard to volume setting at all.  Are you sure it isn't
more of a proximity thing, like when you are sitting next to who ever you
are talking to as opposed to being a few bike lengths apart?
