[ST] new lurker

Hi All,

Just so you know you're being watched....New lurker here.
Got referred to this mail list by someone who said it would be a good source
of info on Sprnt ST's.
Motivation? Not an ST owner (yet) but seriously contemplating it.
Background? Live in southeast US (Atlanta, GA area actually). Apps engineer
for a semiconductor company. Own a number of street rides - Duc 748,
DucM900, Duc750ss (actually a race bike in process of being restored to
street legality) and roadrace a '99 TZ250 in WERA (#90 expert license).
Take week long (yearly) trips each fall to just go have some fun after race
season (as well as long weekend rides when there's no race). Only problem is
that I'm gettin' tired of having my 748 beat me to death by end of day 1
(with 6 days to go). The wife rides the Monster. She's inseam challenged so
we can't swap off to give me a break.
Have been intending to look into a Sport-Touring ride (emphasis on "Sport")
for the past couple of years. I think it's time. Not gettin' rid of the 748.
Just need an alternative in the garage for those weekends when it's more
than just a quick Sunday morning run to the North Georgia twisties and back.
I must admit I'm also drawn to/looking at the Aprilia Futura (Hey. I just
like Italian bikes!) but unless someone gives one away to me (the lottery?),
I 'spect the ST will be the choice.
Open to suggestions (especially those of you in the Southeast US) as to
which dealers will be good ones to work with and which to be careful about
(all private correspondence held in confidence). Will especially pay
attention to those suggesting a bargain is to be had locally. And hope that
what I read here from the knowledgeable is postive (as far the ST goes).
Will definitely want to know why you ST owners chose it (over others in the
Sport/Tour category).

Back to lurk mode now. I'll be watching ................. :-)
