[ST] Tapping footpegs

In July I noticed a slight tapping feeling in the footpegs.  It's not heavy,
yet (knock, knock).  The rate is about 4 per second and doesn't seem to vary
with speed or rpm.  The 24K service was done in early August and no change.
It's not the road surface as I felt it on new blacktop too.  I feel it when
off power or decelerating, but not all the time.  When I pull in the clutch
it either goes away or becomes barely noticeable, so perhaps it is something
in the engine or transmission.  I've checked the tires and chain and can
find no source.  Anybody else experience tapping footpegs?  Thanks.
