Last saturday I left the Seattle area for a trip to
SoDak :) :)
Im on summer break and needed to escape the mess that
is the pacific northwest. I did notice something,
recently another poster mentioned that these bikes
NEED premium fuel to run correctly, that poster is
correct. I have been using midgrade for a little
while. but when called upon to pull, there was some
ping, in switching back to premium, I have my torque
monster back and not complaining about pulling from
2000/2500 rmp upwards. I covered MT inn 98 deg weather
at 120-150mph indicated on speedo for extended
periods. bike runs flawlessly but my new rear tire is
showing some serious feathering (mac100), front is
fine. I love this bike sooo very much!!! it never
skipped a beat after going back to premium fuel.
On the wildlife side of things.. some time ago I
promised to research deer whistles.. Andrews recent
misshap, combined with a handfull of near deer
collisions on my way here, prompted me to ask around a
little bit, other black hills residents swear by
them, Mom included, they are most effective above
35MPH.. I am instaling them on the bike tomorow
morning and heading back to WA sat morning. I will
sure letcha know if they make a difference on this 3
day trip (not using I-90) but other backroads, I saw
probably more than 50 deer on way up here. I will take
some of these same deer-ritch roads back due to their
increadable beauty and great twisties.
Fellow Sprint riders may also recall the bison thread
a while ago.. I have pics to upload once I get home,
you gotta see this!! I got a pic of a large male bull
rinning beside me, me on road and he about 10' off
shoulder, while I was riding..risky move but a great
pic (one hand on throttle and other on camera)
got sevveral pics of these increadable animals. some
very close. the crossed on front of me, I had to stop,
they started crossing behind me.. trapping me and 2
cars in the middld of the heard for about 15 min..
This was in custer state park... OH, one last thing
befor I stop babbling.... those who like sport
riding.. DO YELLOWSTONE PARK!!!!!!! its just wiked!!

00 sprint (happy to be away from WA-red, heavily
punctuated with insects)
