"another" luggage question

i know ben appreciates the feedback , as i do too.  however, the main
question i have regarding all the various setups mentioned is.....can you
leave the exhaust in the upper position?   or are you required to move it to
the lower position which, IMHO, looks, erm....odd !!??!!  i don't mind
removing bags and many of the aftermarket racks look better in place than the
OEM, but i'd easily tire of moving the can each time.
