I would prefer the more protective add-on shield over the tape.  The tape
still allows impact to be transfered directly to the glass.  But, i'm a real
form follows function guy and I don't mind alittle oddity in my bikes.  Go
figure :)

I looked at the ventura website also, it looks like there are small velcro
or similar fasteners at the corners of the lights on the bike shown.  On
the ST I would be concerned about the significant space between the
lights.  The stone guard is, in my experience, much less visible, it
conforms perfectly to the light's shape (after being carefully trimmed with
an exacto knife).  Cleaning is simple, I use plexus on the complete fairing
and all plastic after washing.  Unless you're looking for it, the stone
guard 3M plastic film is virtually invisible.
