Thomas, don't be lazy!  Convert to a BMP then write a short C program that
reads it in, does a bilinear interpolation and writes it back out again.
Convert to JPEG if desired and "Bob's your uncle".  Won't be perfect, but
should be good enough.

Heck, I've got code that does bilinear interpolations in real time,
converting the outside of a circle into an "unwrapped" straight-line image!
(Guess who wrote it?)

It is capital-T Trivial.  ;-)  (Yeah, right!)
