One of the casualties of the computer crash I am afraid....

I have a few left, but here is an on the fly summary.

Old valve schedule was initial at 6k miles and then every 12k thereafter.
Triumph then changed it's recommendations based on what it had been seeing
internally and from the field. The new schedule was set to 12,000 miles and
the every 12k afterward.

Some listers still were uneasy with this and had theirs checked between 6k
and 10k miles. I don't think anyone in the group found that no changes were
required (or in other words that everyone had some adjustment necessary).
Of those, I believe there was 1 or 2 cases or specs way out - all others
required very minor adjustments. There was a thread that went on around
that time that said that if they were out at 6k they would be considerably
out by the 12k service. I pointed out that there was no way of telling when
the change took place to bring them out of spec. For instance if the
majority of the change occurred say within the first 1,000 miles, yes there
would be a service required at 6k miles, but there may have been little
difference if it had been left to 12k miles.....

It is my personal opinion that dealers performing the service at 6k miles
for reasons others than they hear a problem, are simply extracting extra
money from the customer.
