The scene is a courtroom somewhere in America. A product liability suit is
being contested; plaintiff's barrister is in process of cross-examining some
poor sot that designs fuel systems for an OEM...

...and so, Mr. OEM fuel system designer -- what I am hearing from you is that
you have knowingly devised a fuel system that will cause the rider to RUN OUT
OF FUEL before he is actually OUT OF FUEL.

You then say that the rider must TAKE ONE HAND OFF THE HANDLEBARS while at
speed in traffic on the interstate as the motorcycle is studdering and
stumbling and REACH DOWN TO THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE BIKE SOMEWHERE BELOW
YOUR KNEE and find the fuel tap. You then turn a valve to the "reserve"
position and HOPE THAT THERE IS ENOUGH FUEL IN THE FLOAT BOWLS OR PRIME IN
THE FUEL PUMP to resume normal operation.

Doesn't that sound like a DANGEROUS PROCEDURE to you Mr. OEM designer? Isn't
it reasonable to think that someone could be seriously injured or killed as a
result of THIS SUBSTANDARD DESIGN? Wouldn't it be far more prudent to
install a fuel guage and warning light LIKE WE ALL HAVE IN OUR CARS?

In fact, sir -- isn't it GROSSLY NEGLIGENT to design and build something as
DANGEROUS as this "reserve tank" system as you like to call it???

Cheers,
Road Dawg
