Cold Start

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this.
In the UK morning temperature is around -3 C in the south east.
When I press the starter on my ST (38,000 miles) the bike fires up first
time no problem.
It will then idle at 1500rpm for about 5 seconds. The revs then fall to
around 1000-900rpm and the engine sounds like it might die but within 3
seconds it picks up and returns to 1500rpm and then behaves itself.
The colder it is the more pronounced this behaviour is.
Strange but true...
