The little disc lock I have is very unobtrusive and will not be an
encumbrance when not in place on the disk. I _cannot_ imagine though that
I would attempt to forgo pre-flight safety checks and attempt to ride off
with it in place - but be sure that if I do I will _never_ tell any of you
guys :-)

However, my sage and trusty advisor at my distributor, whilst happy to fit
an alarm (he likes me spending money) did say that he didn't rate any
alarm as unless you were within 50 yards of the bike you would be unlikely
to hear it - though he was *all for* a big sticker saying "This bike is
fitted with an alarm" (in twenty-five different languages). Nevertheless,
I will still probably get the Triumph Alarm.

Next issue is a chain (we come to anti-personnel mines later). For use
when touring abroad, does anyone know of a good chain & lock which isn't
going to a) give me a RSI from carrying it or b) is not so heavy I will
need two (one in each pannier) to balance the bike or c) I can convince my
friend with the Pan European to carry it :-) I _have_ got a cable lock
for use at home which could probably secure the USS Nimitz but unless I
put a sidecar on the Sprint I won't be taking it with me!
