Here's an alternative.  I were the MSR V-Top Padded Pants under my Levi's
and/or any other pants I wear riding.  They are marketed as Moto X pants but
work perfectly for street and touring.  They have hard knee and shin guards
with removable thigh, hip and tailbone armor.  They are made of a very cool
lycra type material and are very comfortable and are very unobtrusive. Check
'em out. Also, they're only $107.
