RE: [ST] new RS member - adhesive removal



Matt,
The first thing to try for removing the adhesive would be mineral spirits /
paint thinner.  You probably have some of this around the house.  The best
thing to use is 3M adhesive remover.  You can pick this up at most shops
that sell auto body supplies.  You will need to moisten the adhesive quite a
bit and use a fair amount of elbow grease, but it will eventually all wipe
off.  Keep it wet and let the solvent soak in.  NO MATTER WHAT, do NOT use
acetone or lacquer thinner as these are two of the solvents that are capable
of removing the clear coat and paint.  Also, you should avoid the electric
buffer until all of the adhesive is removed, as it will just heat up the
gunk and smear it around more.  Hope this helps.
