[ST] Good (??) MC Joke

The village policeman was standing in a shop doorway 
of a sleepy English
village pondering life's mysteries when he heard the 
distinctive whump
whump whump of old Bert's Norton motorcycle coming 
along.

As Bert came into view, he slowed to a halt as a 
little old lady stepped
out and crossed the road in front of him. As if in 
slow motion, Bert
and his bike toppled sideways and hit the ground with 
an expensive
sounding crunch of metal and glass... The village 
policeman ran over
to Bert and helped him to his feet.

"I haven't touched a drop today," Bert insisted, "It 
just fell over on
me.."

"Right you are, Bert, if you say so", said the village

policeman, "Here,
let me give you a hand." Together they struggled to 
raise the Norton
back to the vertical.

Bert kicked his machine back into life and, after 
straightening his tie,
continued on his way with a rueful wave.

No sooner had Bert disappeared around the corner than 
there was an almighty
crash and another tinkling of glass. The policeman ran

around the corner
to find Bert spreadeagled underneath his bike again at

the traffic lights
which were on 'red'.

"Well, what happened this time?" said the policeman 
reaching for his
notebook.

"I don't understand it," said Bert, "My wife died last

week - we'd been
married for 42 years - and I thought I'd take the 
sidecar off...."
