Just my .02 on this issue.

I have replaced at least two tires that I remember with less than 2k on them
due to a puncture.

The patches my be good but since there are only two tires on the bike and my
life is worth more than a tire I have always replaced the tires. The only
time I had any miles on the patch was to get home so I could have the tire
replaced.

Just my opinion.
