Subject: [ST] Rev limit

>1. Is it damaging to the engine to bounce off the rev limiter.

If it was damaging, they wouldn't bother with it. It is specifically there
to prevent damage to the engine from over-revving.

>2. How do you know your limiter is working? The couple of times that I've
been in the red I haven't felt the limiter kick in. I'd really hate to keep
going to find it, only to find out that it wasn't working and end up with a
smoking engine

When it kicks in, your engine feels like it is cutting out (because it is).
I have done this a few times. This is sort of the same sensation as running
out of gas except it is at high RPMs. You tachometer will tell you if it is
working. If it runs well into the red zone and your engine goes bang, it
isn't working.
