Re: [ST] New Daytona

My favorite road tests are those that give me a real sense of how it feels to actually ride a particular bike. I want to know how it feels leaned over in a fast sweeper, what the suspension is doing in such a situation, what kind of feedback I'll get through the fork, and whether or not the bike stands up on the brakes in a corner or if I have to do a little trail braking to settle the rear suspension. These are the things that are hard to discern in an organized test ride. In my opinion, both Marc and John Burns excel at conveying this type of information, as do some other experienced journalists.

As for the test in the new issue of Motorcyclist, the Triumph produced some impressive numbers, but the test gave me wood for the Mille. I love my RS, but until Triumph sorts out its gearbox, I'm afraid they making my next sportbike.

Ideally, a road test will give you the big picture, the overview of the
bike's performance as well as a clear picture of its personality so you can
pick through the information and decide what's important to you.
