Eric's kit includes a set of sample templates for creating 3M film paint
protectors for various parts of the tank, side panels and fairing, and this
includes a 'codfish' protector like the CF Triumph equivalent, so you don't
have to buy the Triumph (or any other) protector if you don't want to. Your
colour-matching problem goes away too.

Maybe it would be clearer if I pointed out that there is no one piece of 3M
film that could fit over the entire tank or even just the rear half. It
would be virtually impossible to get it to follow the curved surfaces. You
must decide which smaller areas of paint deserve to be protected. So no,
you wouldn't want to install 3M film under the Triumph CF protector -- there
wouldn't be any point

I opted for the CF Triumph protector and then supplemented it with selected
3M bits.
