I tried to get it for less from the dealer, but they wouldn't budge on price
(maybe it is their small little attempt to discourage me from doing my own
maintenance). As for Autozone, I am up here in Minnesota, and the closest
Autozone is 160 miles away in Iowa. Also, if there was an Autozone
available in MN, the total price would be $51.06 with 6.5% tax wersus $58.99
shipped right to my door. In my case, paying the extra $8.00 more than
makes up for having to drive to Iowa.

As for what oil to use, there seems to be some confusion out there. Mobil
makes 2 different full synthetic lines of oils; An automitive line that
carries an SJ (bad for bikes) rating in 0W30, 5W30, 10W30, and 15W50.
They also produce a motorcycle specific line that carries the SH (good for
bikes) rating in 10W40 (MX4T), 20W50 (V-Twin), and 15W50 (Triumph Racing
4T). Motorcycle Consumers News did a very extensive oil test in their Sept
and Oct 2000 issues which included Mobil 1 15W50 for cars and 10W40 MX4T
along with the other oils that I have seen discussed in the past couple of
days. The final results were reported in the Oct isssu, and if you ignore
price, the MX4T was on the top of the list in almost every test. The Motul
and Golden Spectro synthetic oils ended up in the middle of the pack.

Another $.02
