[ST] Oil Leak - Warranty Issues

Hello all,
  With in the past two weeks, '00 ST has gone from no problems at all to a
severe oil leak.  I took it to the dealer on Monday and he called back
today to confirm that it was the clutch cover gasket, as I had thought. 
The problem is that they say it is not covered under warranty, and they've
already done the work($120 worth).  It is my belief that something not
related to regular maintenance that goes wrong under the warranty period
should be covered.  Am I wrong in this assumption?  It's not like I tried
to take the cover off and messed it up myself, and that is not something
that is supposed to be changed under normal maintenance.  If anyone out
there has any experience or advise with this please contact me directly as
I only get the digest version and I have to pick up the bike tonight.
