Re: [ST] What should I test ride?

Patti,

First of all, demo as many bikes as you can. Variety is the spice of life!

Second, I **HIGHLY** recommend taking the Speed Triple out for a ride.
Problem is, you might want to keep it instead of Booh once you leave the
lot. I had a hard time deciding between the ST and the Speed Triple. I'm
happy with my choice, but if I could afford another bike, you know which one
I'd have in my garage!

Last but not least, have you called Triumph of America? My God, I feel so
bad for you. I know yelling doesn't seem to get much done, but after being
jerked around my numerous car dealerships in my lifetime, making a scene CAN
get action. I suggest you call TOA (if you haven't already done so) and
tell them how much trouble you have been going through. Let them know how
dissatisfied you are, and tell them your impression on Triumph is now
scarred as an unreliable ride. If that doesn't get action, I suggest
another manufacturer because I know I sure as hell wouldn't wait 5 weeks for
them to fix my bike. Who knows, you could still be waiting another 5 weeks.
Have you inquired about a loaner bike, or possibly switching your ST for
another one so Triumph could take a real retailed look into your ST for
further troubleshooting issues?

Good luck to you, but man, I think your being TOO patient. I try to be
understanding, but 5 weeks, and I'd be rip roaring mad.

a quick story:

2 years ago, I got hit on my '96 Suzuki Katana 600 by a MBTA bus. The
driver ran a red light, hit me from behind, and admitted to not even seeing
me. Now I could have sued the state's ass off, but instead, I asked if they
could just fix my bike and I'd be ok with it. Well, they jerked me around
for OVER A YEAR. They estimated the damage at $450, when my speedometer,
side panels, blinkers, handlebar, and other misc. parts were ruined. I was
patient and kept asking them to re-evaluate the bike, and they looked at it
again and again, then only giving me another $100 or so each time. After
not having a bike FOR A YEAR, I said hell with it. My friend is a lawyer,
so I had him draw formal papers with the MBTA, and guess what... I got a
check in the mail for over $2000 3 days later. It just goes to show, you
sometimes have to be aggressive to get things done. It's too bad people
seem to take advantage of nice people such as yourself.

Ok, enough of my ramblings. Hope this helps, and GOOD LUCK! :)
