[ST] Rest Sagem (formerly: help: engine light?)

One thing you can try when the Sagem gets "stuck" is remove the plus and
minus cables from the battery. This should reset it.

The day before yesterday, I stopped after a hour or so of riding. When I
went to resume my ride, after about a 30 minute break, she started but died
on me after about 20 yards. When I tried to start her again the engine light
stayed on and I heard lots of clicks. Like from a solenoid trying to engage.
This happened once before, last year.

What I did to fix it was take the battery out and the Sagem box too. I put
them back in and everything worked just fine. Now I'm wondering if just
removing the plus and minus cables to the battery would of done the trick.
The Sagem box resets itself when you remove the power. Which you would
expect. I don't think they have any battery backup in them.

If you really do have a engine management problem, it should show up again
even after you reapply the power to the box. But if you don't, you're back
in business!

I hope this might help someone out there that may get stranded somewhere
with engine management problems.

Well, finally got all the work done yesterday. Seat lock relocation,
PIAA wiring and brace for the paniers.

Today, first commute to work with the luggage, and the check engine
light won't go off. I was very careful no to touch any other wires.
double checked the gas tank connection when I got to work.

Cycled power/starts several (>3) times, but still on.

The only thing I can think of is, as a dolt, I tried to start the
bike with out the gas tank on to make sure all was well after my
tap into the electrical system. No excuse, but on the 9r this would
have been no problem, obviously enough.

So is this a code that will go away after 100 miles or so. Or do
I need to head to the dealership and have them put then gameboy on
it.

T-45 hours till trip start.

TIA,
Tom

ps. Steve, have to loosen the strengthening bracket we had so much
fun with for the lock relocation :-)
