[ST] Booh news!

I just got off the phone with Mike Meissner at CalBMW.

They have approval from Triumph to give me a new bike. There are a few
details to be worked out yet-- one is what to do with the accessories I
have on the bike (heated grips, luggage rack and top rack), and the other
has to do with whether or not I pay depreciation.

It's typical in situations like this to pay a small depreciation fee
for usage of the old bike, at the rate of $.10/mile. [1] Since I have
just over $6K miles on the bike, I'd wind up paying about $600 out of
pocket. I countered by pointing out that Jerry Parrish had said that
they would "do something" about all the money I spent on towing if it
turned out to be a manufacturing defect, and that I'd spent over $600
on hauling the bike from Death Valley to Vegas, and Vegas to Mountain
View.

In any case, something is happening, and details should be worked out
in a day or two.

YAY!

[1] The California lemon law has a specific formula for this--
mileage / 120000 * purchase price. Doing it this way also comes out to
almost exactly ten cents a mile.
