Nick,

It's definitely for the alarm, the Evo Veto model adapted for Triumph, which
I have fitted on my ST.  A word of warning to those who have the alarm
fitted:  the wire into the LED can be fragile and prone to breaking, and is
virtually impossible to solder back, so care is needed when unhooking the
connector into the loom.  (No prizes for guessing what I did recently,
then!)
