RE: [ST] Garmin GPS eTrex Vista

I looked at just about every GPS on the market and finally went with a
Garmin eMap and I think it's great. Used it on a week tour and at the TSRA
Western Ralley. It's light weight has a large screen and the batteries last
for two days or about 20 hours. Routes are easy to program and what I
thought was really cool is that when you get close to a major turn on your
route, the scale moves in and a message appears telling you that your turn
is approaching. The buttons are big enough to push with gloves on but the
cursor toggle is a little tricky.

The problem with the eTrex is that the button are on the side and not very
easy to use, and I could not find a suitable mount.

I also bought a mount for it from cyclegadgets that was designed
specifically for eMap. Here's the web site http:www.cyclegadgets.com

I was able to upload a full weeks worth of routes in addition to road and
recreation info for over 20 counties and still had plenty of memory left.
(Bought the one with 8 meg card.)

Does anyone own or know anything about the Garmin GPS eTrex Vista? I'm
considering it for not only my bike but also for backpacking and the car. I
know it's good for backpacking, but is it good for touring? Any input will
be greatly appreciated.
