Triumph wants a slice of Japanese market - FT
LONDON, Feb 27 (Reuters) - Japanese motorcycles took over British roads in
the 1970s, but now Britain's Triumph is ready to strike back, the Financial
Times reported on Tuesday.
The motorcycle manufacturer expects to build on sales that rose 20 percent
last year to 30,000 units, on the back of demand for its Bonneville and
Daytona models.
``We have only scratched the surface in Japan, which is a huge market and
where Ducati and Harley-Davidson (NYSE:HDI - news) have been building a
market share,'' sales manager Bruno Tagliaferri was quoted as saying.
Triumph is establishing a 40-strong dealer network and a wholly-woned
subsidiary in Japan, with the target of selling 10 percent of Triumph's
current output per year
