>         The panniers generate only minor turbulence. I have ridden for the past 14 months with the bike naked and with the panniers onboard. I don't even notice the difference anymore. The benefit of having the panniers far outweighs the minor drag involved. Either way, the ST handles beautifully at any speed. The key is to keep the panniers evenly balanced when riding. This is very important, especially when it gets windy.

All I can say is "ditto".  That has been our experience in the last 2
years.  When you put on the top box, you are more susceptible to cross
winds, and doing triple digits is not advisable.
