I got a response back from R&G about their slider plans, just to throw
another alternative into the pot here;

Thank you for your email.
You are correct in your assumption that the RS Crash Protectors mount to the
front top motor mount. The Crash Protector petrudes from the side of the
fairing by approx 38mm, as you can see from the picture on our web site it
looks neat. They are mounted in this way for strength. The ST Crash
Protectors have been produced and will go on sale from second week in April.
The price will be the same as the RS Crash Protectors.
