[ST] Wheel bearings and Powder Coating

WHEEL BEARINGS --> Got the wheel bearings out last night, needed a new set
of c-clip pliers as I broke the tips of my first pair. After the C-Clip
comes out I laid the wheel on some carpet samples I use in the garage and
went out it with a very long and skinny punch. The front (which has cutouts
in the spacers) was pretty easy, I put the U-cutouts on the bottom and drove
out that bearing first, making sure to work around the bearing hoping to
avoid any damage. The back was a bit more difficult, but once you have a
little space in between the bearings you can use the spacer as the driver,
via a very big punch (like a 1/2" extension).

POWDER COATING --> I was amazed how cheap this is costing, even though the
shop that dinged my rims is paying for it. $95 per wheel, bead blasted and
powder coated (the color I am going with (pretty much the same color)) does
not require a clear coat. They had a bunch of parts laying around waiting
to be picked up and some of it looked VERY nice. Thought about going with
yellow for the wheels since the bike is yellow, but thought that might be a
bit squidish, but for $190 I can always change :).

Dave,

Can you give us an idea of the cost? I was considering getting my wheels
coated in Silver, like the Daytona, in case I ever paint my bike that silver
color.

Subject: [ST] Wheel bearing removal

Sprinter's,
Found a shop to re powder coat my wheels. The next step is to get the
wheels bare. All that is left on the wheel are the weights, valve stems and
the bearing and seals. I have the service manual and I did not find any
instructions on removing seals or bearings. I have removed them on other
bikes but would have liked some instruction on these wheels just to be safe.
So anyone got any ideas?
