[ST] K&N filters

I'm from Worcester, MA and have a red '99 ST with 14k.  I know not many
miles,  I had a dislocated tailbone when I first got it.  I've done a
little work on it, Triumph carbon can, stainless lines, higher windscreen
and Corbin seat (worth every penny).

I'm interested in knowing all the in/outs of putting a K&N filter on.
Has anyone had good luck with power increase, fuel consumption, etc.
What filter do I need to order and will I have to modify the air box.
Also what do you recommend be done @ the 12k mile service in addition to
routine.
