Re: [ST] K&N air filters

Ernie,

I put a K&N in at about 2K miles. Installation was pretty simple except for
the removal of the fuel tank. I don't know if I used the most efficient
method of dissasembly but I found fewer obstructions by removin the tail
section body work then the tank. The fuel hose connections are quick
disconnect types on the right side of the fuel tank. Make sure they go back
to the proper ports. One is for the fuel pump outlet to the fuel rail. the
other is the return from the pressure regulator. There is also a couple of
smaller hoses. One is a drain line in the even of and over full tank or
fuel expansion. This lets the excess fuel drop to the ground without
getting on any hot parts of the bike. The other I'm not sure of but it
looks like a vacuum line. last is the electrical connection for the fuel
sending unit. Once the tank is off the air filter is in a rectangular
shaped drawer on the top, rear of the airbox. Remove a few screws (I
remember them to be torx head) and replace the element. Reinstalling the
tank requires some patience so be careful not to scratch the paint.

Hope this helps.

Zac
